5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.

Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find
Yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an
Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
Establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112
can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND
Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

THIRD Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

FOURTH How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Christmas with Family

At my cousins daughters birthday party last weekend we were discussing Christmas. Well this year we all won't be able to get together on Christmas day. Someone made the comment that the kids do not appreciate gifts anymore because they have so much stuff already & we all have so much extended family they get tons anyway. I suggested doing something fun with the kids instead of exchanging gifts. The kids are all old enough to understand that making memories is better than just another present.

The suggestion I threw out was an indoor water park. I took my youngest son to one over the summer & we had a blast. There is one within a reasonable driving distance from us that would be perfect. They are designed for everyone from babies to adults. Most of the ones that I have checked out have water levels under 1" to around 4'. The slides & climbing areas are made large enough for adults (I made sure I tried them all when we were there!). So much fun for children & "the big kids" for a reasonably low price.

I can't wait to hear what others ideas are.

Well after all of the snow we have had here in the last week and the below 0 temperatures I decided to talk about Hawaii. I did visit there last year and it is real easy for me to say “Go there!”.

Hawaii consists of 6 islands, Kauai, Oahu, Big Island, Maui, Lanai, and Molokai. While trying to decide which island I wanted to visit I researched them all. I’ll start with Oahu, the island I visited in April 2007.

Oahu is a very beautiful island. There are many things to do just in Honolulu and Waikiki. Unfortunately that is all the further we got before we ran out of time and had to go home. Our trip to Pearl Harbor was so much more enlightening than what we learned in history class in high school. Even if you are not a history buff it is a must see. Actually seeing the USS Arizona underwater was amazing.

Swap meet! Are you kidding me? You want me to walk thru all of that! It will take all day! My aunt insisted on going but I found a lot of nice things at really good prices there. That is where I did most of my Christmas shopping. I watched a lady making grass skirts. Of course I had to buy one because my 9 year old niece really wanted me to bring her back one. I saved it for Christmas along with a hula video.

The view from our hotel window was Diamond Head Volcano. I would have loved to take a hike up it but my aunt wasn’t really in the hiking mood after the trip to the swap meet. We took a dinner cruise that took us by the volcano so we could see more of it. My personal suggestion is take the small dinner cruise. Less people, good food and great entertainment.

Waikiki Beach was so warm and inviting. I actually only spent about a day and a half lying on the beach. Every morning my uncle and I would stop by the local ABC Store to get him some coffee and walk down to the beach while we were waiting on my aunt to get ready for the day. In the evenings we would walk down to the beach and watch the sun set. It was so beautiful seeing the sun set over the ocean. Now before you fall on the floor laughing at me I’m a farm girl from Iowa. I don’t get to experience the ocean very often.

Let’s talk about the ABC Stores. They are great little convenience stores on every block in Waikiki, or at least it seemed that way. I know I spent a lot of money there to buying little things to take home to everyone. I was so excited to find out I can still shop there online from home. Now when I get cabin fever I can get a taste of Hawaii shopping right from the comfort of home (in front of the fire trying to keep warm).

You want me to eat what! It’s purple! Before we had to go home we visited the Polynesian Cultural Center. We learned about their culture and tried native foods. At the end of the tour of the Center we had dinner and went to a luau. The dinner was buffet style with lots of native foods. I looked at the purple bread and had to seriously think about it before I tried it. It was the best bread I had ever had! I even took home a package of taro bread mix along with taro pancake mix. No more regular pancakes for me. I still order the mix from Hilo Hatties. My favorite breakfast is taro pancakes with cream cheese on them. I was very impressed with the luau. Every one of them was excellent dancers. You sure wouldn’t catch me dancing with fire!

Well the duty of mom calls so I need to go but I’ll be back with more information on the other islands.

When I Grow Up!

I finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up!

I am starting my own business. The website is in progress so I won’t share that part with you just yet. As soon as it’s up and running I will be sure to let you know. I also got involved with a travel agency. It will go along with my new business. Now both of these businesses will be able to be run from home or on a beach someplace warm. My next venture will to be researching vacation sites and home schooling. I could go on and on about the things my 8 year old son has learned in school that I would have rather he didn’t learn until he was grown. What are some of these parents thinking?! Ok enough about that. It will be fun to learn about other cultures in the midst of regular schooling. It is going to be very educational for both of us.

As I’m sitting here writing this I’m getting really excited to start researching. I will let you know what I find! For now I will say goodbye. Talk to you soon.

Learning the Importance of Travel

About 4 years ago there were a lot of changes in my life, some good, some didn't seem so good at the time but in the end they were the best things that happened to me.

During this time I really needed to get away. Sometimes I felt like packing up and moving. Reality is you can't run away from your problems so I picked up the phone & called my Aunt in Arizona. A couple of weeks later I was on a plane to spend a week with her. The next morning we rented a car and drove. In the week that I was there we went to Mexico twice and seen as much of Arizona we could. It was so much fun!

When I returned home I had a much better outlook on life and made it much easier to deal with all of the things that were getting me down. I jumped into life with both feet never to look back unless it was to remind me of how much better my life is now.

I decided that I need to take a vacation at least every 2 years to just escape the things that life throws you every day. Take a week to just relax, everything will still be there when I get home. So I booked a trip to Hawaii.

During the time from when I booked the trip to the time I was leaving (several months) I decided to get involved with a mlm. They promised me the world. I got nothing. I spent money and lots of time and it just didn't work. How was this going to help me travel more? How was this going to make me money when I was just left to figure it out on my own knowing nothing about business?

The trip to Hawaii was amazing. I met lots of people from around the world, many who were just visiting like I was. I love the trees & flowers that I don't have back home. The ocean was so warm to swim in. Everything was open & inviting. Like a dream or something out of a movie. I have to go back. I have to spend more time there. See more. Learn more.

My job as an Office Manager just doesn't allow me to take more time or make enough to travel very often. It's not a bad job just not what I want to do the rest of my life. What do I want to do? I want to travel. I want to see the world. How am I going to do that and make money?
